The introduce of Hue Mini Savory Pancake

Hue Mini Savory Pancake is called “Banh Khot” in Vietnamese. If you tasted “Banh Xeo” in Vietnam before, it is sure that you would understand clearly about “Banh Khot”. “Banh Khot” is very similar to “Banh Xeo”, or Vietnamese Crepes. Nevertheless, Banh Xeo is much bigger and thinner than the Banh Xeo

Banh Khot is one of the traditional foods in Vietnam.  Local people usually eat it with vegetables and sweet sauce. It is not difficult to prepare and cook this dish, because its ingredients are easy to find. However, to make this special food, the local people have to spend much time cooking.

“Banh Khot” has a crispy golden crust with a hint of coconut milk. Its ingredients are rice flour, coconut milk, fresh shrimp, sliced pork and vegetables. Fresh shrimps are boiled and cut in half. In addition, pork meat is cleaned, boiled and sliced small. It is eaten with the dipping sauce.

You should eat it when it is hot will create an amazing flavor in your mouth. You can enjoy it in the small stalls or on the street-side.

How to make “Banh Khot”

Step 1: Mixing rice flour + coconut milk + whites of green onions, garlic, salt and pepper together in a small bowl. Wait at least 15 minutes.

Step 2: Putting Banh Khot on the pan. Spreading oil on the pan. It is more delicious when you use pork grease. When the pan is hot, scoop one by one spoon and pour into the pan.


Step 3: When the cover is brown yellow and crispy, add filling on the face. The filling includes shrimps, pork meat, mung bean, a little dried shrimp and sliced spring onion + oil mixture.


Step 4: Using the flat spoon to take the pancakes out the pan and putting on the plate.
